When a loved one is diagnosed with autism, it can feel overwhelming. You may wonder: “Will they be able to communicate, make friends, live independently?” At Preferred Medical Group (PMG), we want you to know that you are not alone, and there is hope. Since 2007, families across Alabama and Georgia have trusted Preferred Medical Group for compassionate, evidence-based Applied Behaviour Therapy (ABA).
Our team of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and trained behavior technicians has supported more than 1,000 families, helping children, teens, and adults make meaningful progress in communication, independence, and relationships. At PMG, we believe therapy is more than just mere treatment, it’s a shared journey of growth.
Together, hope to celebrate every milestone; from a child speaking their first words, to a teen gaining independence, to an adult succeeding at work or in the community. We hope to face challenges side by side, turning struggles into steps forward as each small victory brings hope, strength, and a brighter future for your loved one, and your family.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a proven therapy that helps people with autism learn important skills and become more independent. It focuses on teaching new skills, encouraging positive behaviors and reducing behaviors that make learning or daily life harder
ABA breaks big goals into small, easy steps, so progress feels achievable and lasting. For instance, child learning to say “water” instead of crying, a teen practicing how to make friends, or an adult preparing for work and community life.
Increase helpful behaviors: Encouraging positive actions like sharing, following instructions, or asking for help.
Teach new skills: Building communication, social, academic, and daily living skills step by step.
Reduce behaviors that limit independence or learning: Gently addressing challenges such as tantrums, aggression, or repetitive behaviors, and replacing them with more effective alternatives.
Children: Learn to communicate needs, play with others, build social skills, and practice daily routines like dressing and eating.
Teens: Gain independence, improve social interactions, manage responsibilities, and prepare for adulthood.
Adults: Build job readiness, practice self-care, and strengthen skills for community living and greater independence.
We recognize that no two individuals are alike. That’s why every treatment plan is carefully personalized to match each person’s needs, strengths, and family goals. Therapy may take place in our clinic, at home, in school, or out in the community, wherever learning and progress happen best.
Our team works closely with families to create a supportive environment, making sure therapy feels practical, comfortable, and meaningful in everyday life.

Mission: In the fall of 2015, we expanded our reach with the opening of Opelika Pediatrics & Family Clinic along US Hwy 280. Dr. Chandra recognized the ongoing growth in East Alabama and aimed to provide a conveniently located medical practice for the community.
Vision: We are currently expanding our Phenix City location to include dedicated facilities for pediatrics, family medicine, and mental health, ensuring that we can provide comprehensive care tailored to the diverse needs of our community.
